From Care to Connection - A Founders Journey
When you meet Thea, the first thing you notice is her calm confidence, the kind that comes from years of caring for others with quiet strength and compassion. As a registered nurse and experienced carer, she has supported people through some of life’s most delicate moments: recovery, illness, and the everyday challenges of growing older and dying with dignity.
For Thea, care has never just been a job. It’s a calling rooted in respect, empathy and patience.
From Nursing to Independent Care
Thea began her career as a registered nurse in the Philippines, working in hospitals where every day brought a new challenge and a chance to learn. When she moved to the UK, she continued to expand her skills, working in care homes, hospitals, and private households. Over the years she’s cared for people recovering from surgery, living with dementia, and receiving palliative support.
Her experience includes time in the NHS including at University College London Hospital and Royal London Hospital, as well as in care homes and a number of private care placements across the UK.
She’s trained in phlebotomy, IV therapy, ECG, and emergency response, but it’s her warmth and empathy that families remember most.
“Care isn’t about ticking boxes, it’s about helping someone feel safe, respected, and still in charge of their life.”
Why She Started This Journey
After years of seeing how care services often leave both families and carers feeling disconnected, and the strain “the system” puts up on patients and their families, and having worked as a private carer, demand was great, but Thea was just one person.
She envisioned finding like minded helpers and being able to connect them to the clients trustworthy, kind support without unnecessary barriers.
That idea grew into a simple but powerful mission: connect people who need help with those who genuinely want to help, while maintaining independence, dignity, and compassion on both sides.
A Personal Approach to Professional Care
Thea’s experience means she understands both sides of the relationship. She knows what families worry about when inviting someone into their home and what carers need to feel supported and respected in return.
That’s why her approach is always personal, transparent, and practical.
Each introduction is handled with care: from verifying experience and references to ensuring there’s a good match of personalities and expectations. She believes good care starts with mutual understanding, not paperwork.
Building a Sustainable, Supportive Network
To turn that vision into something lasting, Thea partnered with Daniel Bayley, a co-founder with over 20 years’ experience in health, technology and wellness projects. Daniel’s background in NHS health programmes and health and wellnewss, startups helps the team focus on quality, safety, and sustainability, ensuring the service grows in a way that always puts people first.
Together, they’re building more than a business. They’re creating a community of carers, housekeepers, and nannies who can work independently while being supported, informed and connected.
Looking Ahead
Thea still spends much of her time listening to families, to helpers, to the quiet realities of daily life that make each situation unique. Her goal is simple: to make care feel human again, and to scale this to many people.
“Everyone deserves to live with dignity, “Sometimes that just means having the right person by your side.”
